To maintain a professional, quality display for each Art Guild of Orange Park event, certain
standards have been set and agreed upon by the board and membership. Please see the listing below for
current standards.

|
|
 |
ELIGIBILTY
Must be a member in good standing. Work must be original and executed within the last two years. Work may not have been previously shown in a Clay County
judged show. Work cannot have been done in a class or workshop. Work cannot be copies of another artist's work
or from published photographs. Subject matter shall not include violence, weapons, drugs, nudity, etc. Other limitations
may apply to certain venues. The Show Chairman shall determine the number of paintings to be hung in a show based on
space available. The rule applies to all shows sponsored by the Art Guild of Orange Park, Inc.
ENTRIES
The number of entries per member will be determined by the Show Chairperson considering space available.
Each entry must have an Art Guild card placed in the lower left corner of the frame and on the back with the title, artist's
name, medium and the artist's phone number. Cards should not be taped to the front surface of the frame. Sculpture
and pottery must have a solid base and be able to sit firmly on a pedestal or shelf. Artist must provide stands. All artwork must be left on display for the duration of the exhibit.
ENTRY FEE
$10
per entry. Entry fee is non-refundable. A member of take-in committee will determine if the framing is secure and
sound before the fee is paid.
FRAMING
Frames are to be simple and not detract from
the work. Frames must be well built and secure with an appropriate hanging wire on the back. NO SAW TOOTH HANGERS
or clip style frames. It is suggested that mats be clean, off-white, white, gray or black. Double
mats are acceptable. No wooden gold or silver liners or fillets. Linen liners are acceptable for oil and acrylic
paintings. Dimensions of framed work: not less than 16"x20" and not greater than 36"x44" , including
frame (unless otherwise stated by the Exhibit Chairperson). Gallery wrapped canvas is accepted (no framing is required).
SALE OF WORK
The Art Guild does not usually display the price of artwork (unless the venue
allows it). A price list will be made available at each venue with contact information for each artist. Galleries take
a commission of sales and some venues expect a donation. The Art Guild does not handle sales of member artwork.
Interested purchasers are given the contact information for the artist.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGED/JURIED SHOWS
|
 |
|
1. The work will be evaluated using principals and
elements of design. 2. Work should reflect the individual artist's personal style; no copying or derivative
of another artist's work is allowed. 3. The work of the artists is expected to exhibit a significant level
of skill in: A. Use of medium
B. Selection of quality materials C. Application of technique D. Presentation (framing, matting, etc.)
AWARDS
Award certificates (1st, 2nd, and 3rd plus 4-6 Honorable Mentions) will be awarded at exhibits where there
are entry fees and a judge. Only one award per member. Monetary awards will be given based on the number of entries
and the show expenses.
JUDGE/JUROR
The Judge/Juror shall be a well-qualified art professional.
The name of the judge/juror and the qualifications shall be published before the exhibit. The Show Chairman or designee
shall be present during the judging.
DEFINITIONS
OPEN SHOW- All members (in
good standing) may submit work and all work will be hung, with the proviso that it is securely framed, in good taste
and the space can accomodate all the entries.
JURIED SHOW - A qualified juror will evaluate
work for content and excellence. This is a subjective process and work may be accepted or rejected solely based on the
personal taste of the Juror. Awards may be made.
JUDGED SHOW - A show where the judge
is hired to evaluate the work and award prizes. The only reason for elimination from these type shows is the space limitation
of the venue.
