We are proud to announce a new service. For
those who wish to honor an individual by supporting the visual arts, a new program has been established to recieve
donations from family and friends of individuals who wish to support art education in our area.
If you or any others wish to remember a loved one or special person by supporting visual arts, please consider supporting
our organization in lieu of flowers or presents. Your donations can be earmarked with your and the person's name
for specific uses such as the building fund or our annual art scholarship.

RENE WILKE MEMORIUM. 1935 - 2009 In lieu of flowers, by

Rene Ruth Wilke was born in New London,
Connecticut to Peter N. Checker (Tserketis) and Lillian Kretas. She moved to Orange Park in 1964 where she and
her husband Edward C. Wilke Jr. raised their four children Edward Scott, Richard Austin, David Jay and Karen Elizabeth who
were blessed with many grandchildren and one great grandchild. Rene received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters
in Education from UNF. She was an art teacher in Clay County School System for nearly 20 years. Active in the
Town of Orange Park and community for over 40 years as former councilwoman, Mayor and concerned citizen. She has been
an active member and held offices in several organizations in the area. Member of the Art Guild of Orange Park
(President 1982-1984); President of Pilot Club of Orange Park ( 1994-1995); Orange Park Womens Club; Friends
of the Orange Park Library; Crown Craftsman, Inc. of Jacksonville and most recently, she was elected President of the Society
of Collage' Artists.
She had many exhibits in North Florida art shows for over 30 years in her
mediums of drawing; charcoal, graphite sticks, conte crayon, pencil, pen and pastel; painting: oils, acrylics, watercolor,
collage', mixed media; fibers: batik, weaving-4 harness loom; Pottery: hand built or wheel thrown.
Your
friends and family will miss your distinctive personality and drive and the contributions you have made to your community
and the art world in our area.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The Art Guild of Orange Park, Inc. participates in a number of art programs throughout the county. Each spring members
assist in setting up and monitoring the art exhibit at the Clay County Fair. Guild members serve as judges for school
art shows and provide programs upon request to local schools. Members have also been active in community events
such as the Concert on the Green, the annual Town of Orange Park Fall Festival, the Carrie Clarke Day, sponsored by the Orange
Park Historical Society and assisted the local American Cancer Society. GOALS
Our immediate goal is to increase our building fund assets to fill the need for appropriate workshop, meeting and exhibit
space and to provide a Visual Arts Center to serve the growing needs of our membership and the community.
Increasing our associate membership base is the first step in making this exciting vision come to life. Please consider
